Our Story

Audrey's Version

We met in 2014, but our story REALY begins in 2021, when our mutual friend Nabil invited us both to Austin City Limits, a music festival in Austin Texas. We had known of each other for some time, but never really spent time together.

We quickly realized how weird the other one was and how much we enjoyed being silly together. Unfortunately, I lived in Portland and Michael lived in San Francisco, but that only added to both of our curiosity of what spending more time together would be like.

A year, and a few missed connections later, we went back to Austin for the same music festival. Nabil called it out before we admitted it, but we were obviously into each other. After we left Austin, I used a few dentist appointments as an excuse to come down to SF and visit Michael. Yes I lived in Portland for four years and never changed my dentist, good ones are hard to find!!

After another year of over 20k airplane miles and 6 more music festivals, I decided I should probably live closer to my dentist and moved back to SF.

All joking aside, we fell in love and it was an easy decision to move back home. Michael had always wanted to live together for a while before we got engaged and we wanted to start our life together.

Michael proposed after living together for one day and now we are so excited to spend the rest of our lives together being silly! But first, celebrating with our favorite people.

The Real Version

I met Audrey like 10 years ago, allegedly. I don’t really remember the first time we met, but Aud is convinced it was in Golden Gate Park in the summer of 2014. Fast forward to 2021 and we meet up in Austin and actually spend time together for the first time. We had so much fun together, but she lived far away so I figured it was a lost cause.

Fast forward again to the following year and we were back in Austin together. This time it is super obvious that Audrey was in love with me. It was also super obvious that Nabil really wanted us to get together. A little nudge was all I needed to admit that I was also kinda into her. Audrey used a dentist appointment as an excuse to visit me; I used a group trip (that everyone else mysteriously bailed on) as an excuse to visit her. And then suddenly, we were in a long-distance relationship.

Turns out distance DOES make the heart grow fonder, because we refused to be apart much, even though we lived 600 miles away from each other. In our first year, we spent 32 weekends together while accruing so many airline miles. We finally decided to stop paying double rent and just live together already.

I always told Audrey that I wanted to live together for a while to “be sure” before we got engaged. Exactly one day after moving in together, I walked into our new shared apartment and loudly declared that I was “CONVINCED” and proposed to Audrey in our kitchen.
